International Tours
The Clinical Adventurer has been specifically designed to engage and immerse health students and clinicians in clinically relevant activities while they experience the people, food and culture of their host country.
Students will experience observational clinical placements working alongside local health care teams in humanitarian health assistant roles. Students will travel to remote locations to establish primary and emergency health care clinics where health infrastructure is limited.
Fees contributes to equipment, consumables, logistics and health care wages required to conduct the clinic during and following the tour.
Students will also assist with health care training as well as complete the Expedition Medicine Life Support Responder Program.
We currently offer two programs in Nepal and Timor Leste.
Our tours are open to paramedicine, nursing, medical and allied health students and clinicians.
Cultural Phase
This is an orientation to the culture, country, people, food, health care systems and surroundings. It usually encompasses your first two days in the country. It is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in your newfound surroundings.
We utilise this time for participants to visit sites of great importance within the capital city and for you to meet the rest of your team including your local guides.
Clinical Phase
During this time the team will travel with the local health care team. You will work alongside clinicians to deliver healthcare in some of the most remote locations in the country. The 2024 Nepal tour saw 360 patients over 4 days.
Course Phase
You will complete an expedition where you will work with and develop the local first responders whilst completing the expedition medicine life support program.
Duration
18 days with 60 hours of patient care and 20 hours of training..
Supervision
All expedition team leaders are Australian registered paramedics with clinical placement supervision experience.
Support
Every student tour is supported by our Australian operations team and in-country partners. The operational team has been running student tours for 10 years with no major incidents.
